Harding is GCAC Runner of the Week
October 1, 2008
NEW ORLEANS — Ebony Harding of Xavier University of Louisiana
is the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Runner of the Week in women's cross country for Sept. 22-28.
Harding, a junior from Baton Rouge, La., and a 2005 graduate of
Baton Rouge High School, ran 5,000 meters in 20 minutes, 39 seconds Saturday and finished 15th out of 106 runners in the
Rhodes Invitational at Memphis, Tenn. Harding has been the Gold Nuggets' fastest
finisher in all 16 meets of her career.
Harding is the second Xavier runner to be honored
this season. Freshman Ray Walston won the men's award for Sept. 15-21.
This is the first season of weekly GCAC awards in cross country.
Xavier will compete Oct. 11 in the University of Dallas Invitational at
Irving, Texas. The women will run 6,000 meters at 9 a.m., and the men will run 8,000 meters at
10 a.m. It will be Xavier's fourth competition of the season.
