Men's basketball tryouts rescheduled for September 16
September 10, 2008
NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana will conduct walk-on tryouts for the
2008-09 men's basketball season from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, September 16 at The Barn.
Tryouts originally were scheduled for August 30, but they were postponed
because the university closed in preparation for Hurricane Gustav. Classes resumed Monday.

"Prospective student-athletes should bring athletic gear, basketball shoes and
a positive attitude," Egans said. "And they should be ready to work."
Xavier, an NAIA Division I school, was 24-10 in 2007-08 and finished third in the Gulf
Coast Athletic Conference. The Gold Rush qualified for the Buffalo Funds-NAIA Division I
National Championship for a school-record fourth consecutive time. Xavier's 25 seasons
of 20 or more victories are the most in the history of Louisiana men's college basketball.
Xavier will begin its season at 5 p.m. on Oct. 31 against Southern
Polytechnic at The Barn.
