In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

2 Georgians sign with Xavier; Callis transfers back
August 22, 2008
NEW ORLEANS — Georgia residents Steffen Osborn of
Atlanta and Sean Richardson of Ellenwood have signed scholarships to play men's
tennis for Xavier University of Louisiana. Both will attend classes as freshmen
on Monday, the first day of the fall semester.
Coach Alan Green also announced that Angelina Callis
has transferred back to Xavier's women's tennis team.
Osborn teamed with Simran Hundal to win the Southern
Open boys 16 doubles championship in 2006. Osborn played No. 1 singles for
Westlake High School, which reached the quarterfinals of this year's Class
AAAA state tournament.
Richardson is the younger brother of Xavier men's
tennis standout Terry Richardson, the 2007 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference
Player of the Year and a two-time Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar and
Daktronics-NAIA Sports Scholar. Sean Richardson was the boys 16 singles
champion of the Athens Bulldog tournament in 2006. He helped Stockbridge High
School win Georgia regional tournaments his sophomore and junior years.
Osborn was ranked ninth in Georgia, 57th in the southeast
and 190th in the United States by tennisrecruiting.net this year. Richardson
was ranked 14th in Georgia, 105th in the southeast and 382nd in the United States.
Both were honor-roll students in high school. Osborn will major in chemistry/pre-pharmacy
at Xavier, and Richardson will major in biology/pre-medicine.
Callis was the GCAC Newcomer of the Year as
a Xavier freshman in 2007 but played this past season at South Carolina State,
an NCAA Division I school. She returns to Xavier as a junior. Boston
was her hometown in 2007, but she now calls Los Angeles her residence.
Both Xavier teams were ranked among the top 20 in the final
NAIA polls this past season, and in May the Gold Nuggets reached the second round
of the NAIA National Championship.
