In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

Xavier runners No. 1 in GCAC preseason ratings
August 19, 2008
NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana is No. 1 in the Gulf Coast
Athletic Conference men's and women's cross country preseason ratings released Monday
by the NAIA.
Conference ratings have replaced regional ratings in the NAIA as part of a
qualifying change for the national meet. For the first time since 2000,
conference champions will qualify automatically for the NAIA National Championships.
Both the Gold Rush and Gold Nuggets are two-time defending GCAC champions.
Conference ratings will resume Sept. 8, the first of nine consecutive Mondays.
Xavier returns seven All-GCAC runners: Joe Drexler-Dreis, Bryan Khan, David Salmon
and Darren Wallace on the men's team and Ashley Broden, Ebony Harding and Stacey
Windon on the women's.
Xavier's men and women will open their seasons Aug. 29 in the Tulane Green Wave
Invitational at City Park in New Orleans. The women's two-mile race will start at
6 p.m., followed by the men's 5,000-meter race at 6:30.
