ALMA MATER
In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

Xavier is third again in GCAC all-sports competition
June 24, 2008
NEW ORLEANS — For the third consecutive time, Xavier University of Louisiana
finished third out of 10 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference schools in competition
for the Thomas Howell Cup, the league's all-sports award.
The cup, named for the GCAC commissioner, is awarded to the school with the
highest number of points based on the order of finish in GCAC-sponsored
sports. Additional points are awarded to schools participating in NAIA-sanctioned
sports in which there is no GCAC competition.
Xavier scored 37 points as a result of four first-place finishes (men's cross country,
women's cross country, men's tennis regular season, women's tennis regular season),
a second-place finish (women's basketball regular season, women's tennis) and a third (men's basketball regular season).
Mobile scored 56½ points to win the Thomas Howell Cup for the fourth time in a row and a GCAC-record
17th time overall. Spring Hill was second with 45 points.
Xavier has won 13 GCAC team championships and earned eight berths in
NAIA national tournaments during its past three seasons.
