Another Lang signs with Nuggets for tennis
April 16, 2008

NEW ORLEANS — Marian Lang of Capitol Heights, Md., has signed a scholarship to play women's tennis for Xavier University of Louisiana.

Lang, who is home-schooled, is the Gold Nuggets' first tennis signee for the 2008-09 academic year.

In 2003 Lang ranked fifth in girls 14 singles and 16th in girls 16 singles in the United States Tennis Association's Mid-Atlantic Section. In recent years she has trained in the Atlanta, Ga., area with Jewel Peterson, a four-time singles All-American at the University of Southern California.

Lang, a righthander, is a younger sister of Michelle Lang, who played for Xavier from 2001-05 and earned NAIA rankings in singles and doubles from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

Xavier is 15-6 this season and ranked 21st in the NAIA coaches poll announced Wednesday.
