In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

Gold Rush moves up again in NAIA rankings
February 6, 2008
NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana moved up one place to No. 13 in the
NAIA Division I men's basketball coaches poll released Wednesday.
It was the first time this season that the Gold Rush (18-4 overall, 8-2 Gulf Coast
Athletic Conference) moved up in consecutive polls. Xavier improved its winning streak
to five games with a pair of GCAC double-digit road victories this past week — 77-61
at Loyola and 89-76 at William Carey. Against Carey the Rush shot
72.2 percent (13-of-18) from 3-point range to break a 19-year-old school record.
Mountain State (22-0) of Beckley, W.Va., is No. 1 for the seventh consecutive ranking and
a unanimous pick for the top spot for the second straight week. LSU-Shreveport — which
leads the GCAC by a game over Xavier and Mobile and whose only loss this season was to
the Gold Rush on Jan. 23 — moved from fifth to fourth. The Pilots will play Xavier
at The Barn at 7:30 p.m. on Valentine's Day.
Xavier will play two more GCAC games this week: 7:30 p.m. Thursday
against SUNO (4-12, 1-9) at Delgado Community College Gym and 7 p.m. Saturday against Belhaven
at The Barn. Belhaven will be Xavier's first home opponent in three weeks.
The next coaches poll will be announced Feb. 13.
