In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

Nuggets' No. 18 ranking is their best since 2005
January 30, 2008
NEW ORLEANS — The Xavier University of Louisiana women's basketball team hit
a three-year high Wednesday when it climbed to 18th in the NAIA Division I coaches
poll.
It's the Gold Nuggets' highest ranking since the final regular-season poll of
2004-05, when they were 15th. But there's not much time to enjoy the lofty status.
Loyola, one of the Nuggets' city and Gulf Coast Athletic Conference rivals,
climbed to a school-record 16th in the rankings. The Wolfpack (15-4 overall, 8-0
GCAC) leads the conference by a game over Xavier (17-3, 7-1), and the two teams
will play at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Loyola's home facility, The Den.
Xavier climbed three spots after two GCAC road victories this
past week: 62-58 at LSU-Shreveport on Jan. 23 and 57-44 at city rival Dillard on Saturday.
Union (19-0) of Jackson, Tenn., maintained the No. 1 spot it has held
since the preseason. The Lady Bulldogs were a unanimous choice for the top spot
for the sixth consecutive ranking.
Loyola is one of two GCAC road games for Xavier this week. The Nuggets also
will visit William Carey at 5 p.m. Saturday.
The next coaches poll will be announced Feb. 6.
