ALMA MATER
In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

Gold Rush climbs to 14th in NAIA rankings
January 30, 2008
NEW ORLEANS — A 75-72 overtime victory at LSU-Shreveport helped
Xavier University of Louisiana climb four places to No. 14 in the
NAIA Division I men's basketball coaches poll released Wednesday.
The Gold Rush (16-4 overall, 6-2 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference) defeated the then-third-ranked
Pilots on Jan. 23 and gave LSUS its first loss of the season.
Then Xavier won 69-62 Saturday at city rival Dillard for its fourth
GCAC road victory in five games.
Mountain State (20-0) of Beckley, W.Va., is No. 1 for the sixth consecutive ranking and —
for the first time this season — is a unanimous pick for the top spot. LSUS
dropped to fifth.
Xavier will play a pair of GCAC road games this week: 7:30 p.m. Thursday
against Loyola (11-7, 4-4) and 7 p.m. Saturday against William Carey.
Xavier is tied for third place with Tougaloo in the GCAC. The Rush is 1½ games
behind first-place Mobile (13-6, 8-1) and one game behind second-place LSUS (18-1, 7-1).
The next coaches poll will be announced Feb. 6.
