Xavier women win their fifth in a row

SHREVEPORT, La. — Erica Turnbull had 20 points and nine rebounds Wednesday, and Jarryn
Cleaves had 18 points and seven rebounds to lead
NAIA No. 21 Xavier University of Louisiana to a 62-58 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference women's
basketball victory over LSU-Shreveport.
It was the fifth consecutive victory for the Gold Nuggets (16-3 overall, 6-1 GCAC)
and their 12th in 13 games.
Xavier led 33-27 at halftime but trailed by three points in the final seven
minutes before rallying for their third conference road victory in four tries.
Cleaves made five of Xavier's eight 3-pointers.
Edie Leonard had 15 points and 13 rebounds for LSU-Shreveport (8-8, 4-3), and Whitney
Hollins scored 12 points, all on 3-pointers.
Both teams shot 40 percent from the floor. Xavier had a 37-32 rebound advantage and
committed 20 turnovers, two more than the Lady Pilots.
Xavier's next game will start at 5 p.m. Saturday at GCAC and city rival Dillard.
