ALMA MATER
In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

Gold Nuggets climb to 20th in NAIA rankings
January 9, 2008
NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana climbed from 21st to 20th in the
NAIA Division I women's basketball coaches poll released Wednesday.
It's the highest ranking of the season for the Gold Nuggets, who were 26th in
the preseason and tied for 21st in two December polls. It's the Nuggets'
highest ranking since the final regular-season poll of 2004-05, when they were 15th.
Xavier is 11-3 overall and 1-1 in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference, one game
behind Loyola and Mobile. Loyola (9-4) fell from 18th to 19th in the coaches poll.
Xavier will visit Loyola on Jan. 31 and host the Wolfpack on Feb. 28.
Union (12-0) of Jackson, Tenn., remains at No. 1, same as it was during the preseason,
and was a unanimous choice for the top spot for the third consecutive ranking.
Xavier will play GCAC and city rival SUNO (4-5, 0-2) at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at
The Barn. It will be the first home game in 39 days for the Gold Nuggets.
The next coaches poll will be announced Jan. 16.
Xavier moved from 23rd to 21st in Kyle Woodworth's rankings at
