Cleaves, Turnbull are preseason All-GCAC

NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana seniors Jarryn Cleaves and Erica Turnbull
have been chosen to the preseason All-Gulf Coast Athletic Conference women's
basketball team by the league's head coaches.
Cleaves, a 5-foot-8 guard from Memphis, Tenn., and East High School, led the Gold
Nuggets with a 14.1 scoring average in 2006-07 and was one of three in NAIA Division I
to reach 80 3-pointers, 60 assists and 70 steals. She is a three-time All-GCAC selection
and was an NAIA honorable-mention All-American as a junior.
Turnbull, a 6-foot forward/center from Baltimore, Md., and Baltimore Polytechnic Institute,
averaged 12.2 points this past season and led the Nuggets with 7.7 rebounds per game
and a .529 field-goal percentage.
Xavier, 23-12 in 2006-07, will open its regular season Nov. 1 at Langston.
