Bell makes NAIA All-Region XIII women's tennis team
For immediate release . . . April 21, 2007

NEW ORLEANS — Women's tennis standout Dominique Bell of Xavier University of Louisiana was selected to the 12-member NAIA All-Region XIII team Saturday.

Bell, a junior from Jackson, Miss., and a 2003 graduate of Callaway High School, is 12-3 in singles and 11-5 in doubles this year. Bell was No. 18 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's singles rankings of April 2, and last week she was chosen Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Year for the third time.

Xavier is 15-7 and ranked 22nd in the NAIA. The Gold Nuggets won the GCAC Tournament on April 13, then lost 5-4 Friday to eighth-ranked Brenau in the opening round of the Region XIII Tournament. Bell won her singles match against Brenau, beating No. 36 Paula Ghilardotti 6-4, 7-5.

The Xavier Gold Rush and Gold Nuggets compete in Division I of the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) as a member of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC). Xavier fields men's and women's teams in basketball, cross country and tennis.
