ALMA MATER
In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

Xavier signs 2 men, 3 women for cross country
For immediate release . . . April 11, 2007
NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana has signed two men and
three women to cross country scholarships for the 2007-08 school year,
Coach Joseph Moses announced Wednesday.
David Salmon of Shorewood, Wis., and Jordan Wilson of Baton Rouge, La.,
signed with the Gold Rush. Brittany Everett of Baltimore, Md., Jennifer
Garcia of San Antonio, Texas, and Stacey Windon of Baton Rouge signed
with the Gold Nuggets. All will be freshmen at Xavier during the fall
semester except for Garcia, who will be a sophomore.
Salmon helped Shorewood High School win Division 2 state championships
in 2004, 2005 and 2006. He was a prep teammate of current Xavier runner
Joe Drexler-Dreis. Wilson competed for Baton Rouge High School and was
the No. 2 runner in 2006 for the Bulldogs, who qualified for the Class
5A state meet. Wilson was second-team all-metro as a sophomore and a
prep teammate of current Xavier runner Bryan Khan.
Everett led Western High School to second place in Baltimore's city
championship and a berth in the Class 3A state meet in 2006. Garcia helped
San Antonio's James Madision High School finish second in the district
in 2004 and third in 2003. Windon was first-team all-metro at
Redemptorist High School in 2006 and finished in the top eight at the Class 3A
state meet the past two seasons. Windon competed for New Orleans'
Cabrini High School as a sophomore and helped the Crescents finish sixth in
3A.
Xavier won Gulf Coast Athletic Conference men's and women's team
championships in 2006, and Moses was selected Louisiana Coach of the Year in
men's and women's cross country.
