Cleaves is third-team All-Louisiana again
For immediate release . . . April 6, 2007
NEW ORLEANS — Guard Jarryn Cleaves of Xavier University of Louisiana
is a repeat third-team selection on the All-Louisiana women's basketball team.
The Louisiana Sports Writers Association chose the team.
Cleaves, a 5-foot-8 junior from Memphis, Tenn. (East High School), led
the Gold Nuggets and ranked sixth in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference
with a 14.2 scoring average. She made a Xavier-record 88 3-pointers and
led the Nuggets (23-12) to their sixth consecutive berth in the NAIA
Division I National Tournament.
Cleaves, a three-time All-GCAC selection, was All-Louisiana in 2004-05
as a sophomore. Xavier did not compete in 2005-06 because of the
effects of Hurricane Katrina.
LSU's All-America junior center Sylvia Fowles, who averaged 16.9 points
and 12.6 rebounds and led the Lady Tigers to their fourth consecutive
Final Four, is the Player of the Year.
The LSWA will announce the All-Louisiana men's basketball team Saturday
night.
