In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

LSU-Shreveport ends Xavier men's winning streak
For immediate release . . . February 15, 2007
Box Score
SHREVEPORT — Freddy Hughes scored 18 points Thursday to lead
LSU-Shreveport to a 65-54 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference men's basketball
victory against NAIA No. 22 Xavier University of Louisiana.
Mark Stewart scored 19 points and Alfred Williams 11 for Xavier (17-8,
10-5 GCAC), which lost for the first time in 11 games and dropped into
a second-place in the league with Tougaloo and a half-game behind LSUS
(20-6, 11-5).
Stewart made three 3-pointers to move into second place on Xavier's
career list with 174.
The teams were tied at 24 at halftime. Williams' 3-pointer with 8:19
remaining gave the Gold Rush its last lead, 44-43. The Pilots outscored
Xavier 15-1 over the next 6:23.
Hughes also had seven rebounds and six assists. Kyile Byrd scored 15
points.
Neither team shot well from the floor — Xavier finished at 34.5
percent, LSUS 33.3 — but the Pilots outscored the Rush 24-11 from the line
and outrebounded Xavier 47-26.
Xavier's next game will start at 7 p.m. Saturday against GCAC opponent
Belhaven at Jackson, Miss. The Rush needs one victory in its last three
regular-season games to secure a first-round bye in the GCAC
Tournament.
