ALMA MATER
In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

Gold Rush wins 80-67 at Mobile to keep GCAC lead
For immediate release . . . February 8, 2007
Box Score
MOBILE, Ala. — Kelechi Okoroha scored 21 points Thursday to lead
Xavier University of Louisiana to an 80-67 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference
men's basketball victory against Mobile.
The Gold Rush (15-7 overall, 8-4 GCAC) also got career highs of 18
points from Alfred Williams and 12 points from Cornelius Kennedy to extend
their winning streak to eight games and maintain their conference lead.
Shaun Dumas had 14 points and five assists for Xavier, which led 37-27
at halftime.
Walter Fitzgerald led Mobile (13-12, 7-6) with 19 points, and Robert
Jones scored 16. The Rams have lost four of their last five games.
Xavier, three days after shooting a school-record 75.9 percent from the
floor against Tougaloo, outshot the Rams 56 to 41 percent and outrebounded
them 30-26. It was the third time in five games that Xavier shot at least 55
percent.
The Rush also shot a season-best 92.3 percent from the line (24 of 26),
a nice improvement for a team which shot 56.5 percent in its previous four games,
including a season-low 43.8 percent against Tougaloo. Williams was 8 of 8 from
the line, and Kennedy made all six of his attempts.
Xavier avenged a 51-44 January loss to Mobile in which the Rush scored
its fewest points of the season.
Xavier's next game will start at 5 p.m. Saturday at GCAC and city rival
Loyola. The Gold Rush's next home game will start at 7:30 p.m. Monday
against SUNO.
