Gold Rush adds neutral-site game against Wiley
For immediate release . . . December 18, 2006
NEW ORLEANS — The Xavier University of Louisiana men's basketball team has
added a non-conference game against Wiley College to its December schedule.
The Gold Rush and Wildcats will play at noon on Sunday, Dec. 31 at a neutral site,
Southern University of Shreveport's Health and Physical Education Center in Shreveport, La.
The additional contest, the third this season between Xavier and Wiley, will replace
one of the three games the Gold Rush lost when organizers of the Hoopin' in Holidays
Tournament at Los Angeles canceled their Dec. 27-29 event. Wiley also was scheduled
to compete in the tournament.
Xavier still is interested in adding games to the schedule, and interested
coaches should contact Coach Dannton Jackson at (504) 520-5448.
The Wiley game will be Xavier's first since a 79-63 loss Dec. 11 at Nicholls State.
Xavier defeated Wiley 56-53 on Nov. 10 at The Barn and lost 79-61 to the Wildcats
on Dec. 6 at Marshall, Texas.
