Texas College beats Tougaloo in Xavier Classic

NEW ORLEANS — Erica Delley's basket with
1:41 remaining Friday lifted Texas College to a 71-69 women's basketball
victory over Tougaloo in the Xavier Classic.
Neither team scored after Delley's basket.
Tougaloo missed four field-goal attempts
and committed a turnover in the final 71 seconds.
Romanita Whitaker led Texas College (4-3) with
19 points, and Delley had 18 points and 18 rebounds.
Amber Johnson made five 3-pointers and scored 18 points for Tougaloo (1-3),
which has a three-game losing streak. Travalyn Smith had 15 points and nine rebounds,
and Keisha Carter had 11 points and five assists.
Texas College led 41-36 at halftime. Johnson scored six points during a 12-0
run which gave Tougaloo a 61-59 lead with 4:49 remaining.
Texas College finished 2-0 in
the six-team, two-day event, and Tougaloo was 0-2.
