Texas College rallies past Dillard at Xavier Classic

NEW ORLEANS — Romanita Whitaker
had 22 points and 10 rebounds Thursday to rally
Texas College to a 93-81 women's basketball victory over Dillard in the
Xavier Classic.
Catherine Yancy scored 19 points and
Antoinette Dickerson 16 for the Lady Steers (3-3), and Erica Delley
had 13 points and 14 rebounds. Delley grabbed 11 rebounds in the
second half.
Roshawnda Bolton scored a career-high 32
points — 16 in each half — for Dillard (0-5).
Crystal Marcial scored 16 points, and Chayla Green had 11.
Bolton and Marcial scored nine points
apiece in the first nine minutes to give the Lady Blue Devils their
largest lead, 25-14. Texas College answered with a 14-2 run,
then took the lead for good, 37-34, when Yancy made a 3-pointer at 3:26 of
the first half.
Texas College led 45-42 at halftime
and by as many as 16 points in the second half.
The Lady Steers outrebounded Dillard 57-32.
