RedHawks give Gold Rush its first loss of the season

MOBILE, Ala. — Chauncey Shelton scored a season-high 21 points
Saturday to lead Martin Methodist to a 79-64 men's basketball victory against
Xavier University of Louisiana in the University of Mobile Classic at
Pharr Gymnasium.
The RedHawks (3-3) led 34-28 at halftime and outshot the Gold Rush
(4-1) 54 to 44 percent from the floor.
Kelechi Okoroha scored 14 points, Mark Stewart 13, Alfred Williams 11
and Dannie Woods 10 for Xavier. Williams grabbed seven rebounds.
Xavier was 1-1 in this event. The Rush got 23 points from Stewart on
Friday in a 76-52 victory against Webber International.
Xavier's next game will start at 6 p.m. Nov. 27 against Philander Smith
in The Barn.
