NEW ORLEANS — Mark Stewart scored 28 points and Shaun Dumas 20 to lead Xavier University of Louisiana's white team to a 74-55 men's basketball intrasquad victory against the gold Friday at The Barn.

Stewart scored 22 second-half points, including 5 of 6 from three-point range. Alfred Williams had 14 points and 12 rebounds for the white, which led 32-21 at halftime and took its biggest lead, 74-52, on Stewart's three-pointer with 1:46 remaining.

Kelechi Okoroha led the gold with 21 points, 11 rebounds and five steals, and Dannie Woods and Olumide Olafioye added 11 points apiece.

It was Xavier's first public basketball competition since the 2004-05 season. The school did not compete in athletics in 2005-06 because of the effects of Hurricane Katrina.

The Gold Rush's next contest will be an Oct. 31 exhibition at Arkansas. Xavier will begin the regular season at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 3 against Texas College in The Barn.
