Lewis leaves men's basketball team

NEW ORLEANS — Rashaad Lewis, a forward on Xavier University of Louisiana's men's basketball team, quit the team and withdrew from school this past week, Coach Dannton Jackson announced Wednesday.
Jackson said Lewis, a 6-foot-6 freshman from Cuthbert, Ga., and a 2006 graduate of Randolph-Clay High School, departed because of personal reasons.
"Rashaad left the team and the university in good standing," Jackson said. "We wish him well."
Xavier will conduct its first official practice of the season at 8 a.m. Sunday in The Barn. The Gold Rush was 24-10 in 2004-05 and did not compete in 2005-06 because of the effects of Hurricane Katrina.
