Xavier runs 5th and 8th in LSU meet For immediate release . . . September 23, 2006 Women's results • Men's results BATON ROUGE, La. — Xavier University of Louisiana finished fifth out of six schools in the men's division and eighth out of 10 schools in the women's division of the LSU Tiger Festival cross country meet Saturday at Highland Road Park. The Gold Rush scored 126 points, and the Gold Nuggets scored 199. LSU won both divisions, with the men scoring 22 points and the women 30. For the third time in as many meets this season, sophomores Ebony Harding and Darren Wallace were Xavier's fastest finishers. Harding covered 6,000 meters in 25 minutes, 50.31 seconds to finish 29th out of 74 runners in the women's race. Wallace ran 8,000 meters in 30:06.36 to place 27th out of 56 runners in the men's race. Individual winners were LSU's Rachael Graham (22:50.84) in the women's race and South Alabama's Vincent Rono (25:22.84) in the men's. Xavier will run next Saturday in the Rhodes Invitational at Memphis, Tenn. |
