ALMA MATER
In the Mississippi Valley,
In the Crescent Bend
Stands our loved and noble Xavier,
Far her praises send.
Refrain:
Wave her colors bear them onward
Gold and white so true
Hail to thee, all hail, dear Xavier
Hail, all hail, X.U.!
Xavier, ever be our guide
And lead us on the way,
Through life's journey, onward, upward
To the eternal day. (Refrain)

Xavier University of Louisiana has a rich men's tennis heritage that dates to the 1930s.
The program continues to excel in the 21st century under the direction of Alan Green.
The 2010-11 season is Green's eighth as coach of XU's men and women.
His highlights with the men include:
• Becoming the only HBCU men's team to qualify for the NAIA National Championship
since the tournament adopted a dual-match format in 2000. Not only did the Gold Rush qualify in 2009 and 2010,
but they also won first-round matches both years.
• Five consecutive Gulf Coast Athletic Conference championships
during the last six years (2005, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010).
• Beginning with the poll of April 4, 2007, the Gold Rush have been ranked in every NAIA top 25.
• The Gold Rush have been in the final NAIA top 25 for five consecutive seasons
— 24th in 2005, 25th in 2007, 17th in 2008, 18th in 2009 and 16th in 2010.
• A 45-match GCAC regular-season winning streak.
This past season (2009-10) the XU men were 13-14, won another GCAC
Tournament and rallied for a 5-3 victory against Tennessee Wesleyan in the opening
round of the NAIA National Championship.
Of the 25 male and female senior student-athletes to play
for Green, 21 received degrees from Xavier or are still enrolled. In 2009 men's
tennis standout Terry Richardson became the first Xavier athlete to be selected
to an ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District first team by the College Sports
Information Directors of America.
Green was been GCAC men's and women's Coach of the Year numerous
times and was All-Louisiana men's and women's Coach of the Year in 2009.
Green's XU women's teams have won six GCAC Tournament
championships, made five trips to the NAIA National Championship and won in the
first round each time. The Gold Nuggets were in the final NAIA top 25 each of the last six seasons,
with highs of 13th in the final polls of 2005 and 2008.
Green, 37, is a New Orleans native and has two Xavier degrees. He earned
his bachelor's degree in 2002 and his master of arts in counseling in May 2008. Green was a tennis
standout at XU and the GCAC men's singles champion his senior year, 2002. Soon after his graduation,
Xavier hired him as men's and women's tennis coach to replace Charles Mosley.
