Next:   The Gold Rush await the start of the 2013-14 season. The season will begin in late October or early November.

The Record:   Xavier was 24-8 overall, 11-3 in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference in 2012-13. The Gold Rush reached 20 victories for the third consecutive season and the eighth time in Dannton Jackson's 10 seasons as head coach. The Gold Rush shared the GCAC regular-season championship with Philander Smith and qualified for the Buffalo Funds-NAIA Division I National Championship for the third consecutive year and the seventh time in nine seasons.

Most Recently:   Xavier lost 72-59 to Faulkner in the opening round of the 2013 Buffalo Funds-NAIA Division I National Championship at Kansas City, Mo.

Rankings:   Xavier was tied for 16th in the NAIA Division I Men's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 of March 7. The postseason poll will be announced March 26.

Preseason Rankings:   Xavier was picked in a preseason poll of Gulf Coast Athletic Conference coaches to finish first in 2012-13. In the NAIA Division I Men's Basketball Coaches' Top 25, Xavier ranked 19th — the third straight year the XU men were a preseason top-25 team.

Open For Business:   The Convocation Center, the new home of XU men's basketball. The first games there were November 3. Read about it here.

Recruiting:   Xavier has announced the signing of six for 2012-13:
  •  RJ Daniels of New Orleans
  •  Lucas Martin-Julien of Reserve, La.
  •  Wesley Pluviose-Philip of Albany, N.Y.
  •  Xavier Rogers of Denton, Texas
  •  John Gibson of Marietta, Ga.
  •  Gary Smith of Sugar Land, Texas
  •  Olivier Siewe of Douala, Cameroon
   Also joining the team as a walk-on was Keenan Gay of New Orleans.

In 2011-12:   Xavier was 23-9 and 11-3 (regular-season co-champion) in the GCAC. Xavier was 24th in the NAIA Division I Coaches' Postseason Top 25 Poll and qualified for the national tournament for the second consecutive year and the sixth time in eight seasons.

All-America:   Senior guard Chris Iles received honorable mention on the 2011-12 NAIA Division I All-America team.

All-GCAC:   Senior guard Chris Iles, junior forward Anthony Simmons and junior forward Denzell Erves were Xavier's all-conference selections in 2011-12. XU's Dannton Jackson was chosen GCAC Coach of the Year.   story

Praise on the Air:   Here's what Loyola play-by-play announcer Ken Trahan said about Xavier coach Dannton Jackson during the game broadcast of December 17, 2011, on WGSO Radio:  "The Gold Rush are a good team. Dannton Jackson's always got his team prepared. They always do an outstanding job. They run their offense, pass the ball, play hard defense."

2010-11 Rankings:   Xavier was No. 17 in the final NAIA Division I Men's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll announced on March 9. Xavier was ranked in all 12 polls of 2010-11.

Camp:   Xavier attracted approximately 60 youngsters ages 6-16 to its 2011 basketball camp at The Barn from June 27-30. Click here to visit Facebook and view camp photos.

Excellent Report Card:   Of the 18 senior student-athletes to play for Dannton Jackson at Xavier during his head-coaching tenure, 17 received degrees from Xavier or are still enrolled.

Consistent Success:   The Gold Rush in 2012-13 extended a program record with a 13th consecutive winning season. Since a 14-21 record in 1989-90, the Gold Rush have strung together 22 consecutive non-losing seasons, including .500 records in 1996-97 and 1998-99 and 15 seasons of 20 or more victories.

Gulf Coast Athletic Conference

National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics
The Xavier Gold Rush and Gold Nuggets compete in Division I of the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) as a member of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC). Xavier fields men's teams in basketball, cross country, tennis and track and field and women's teams in basketball, cross country, tennis, track and field and volleyball.
