Join the Xavier Athletics Booster Club
Fall 2007
Dear Prospective Booster:
It has been four years since I became the Director of Athletics here at Xavier. It has been a
very challenging and personally rewarding experience. The University environment fulfills many
of my professional needs as I transitioned from St. Tammany Parish School Board.
Athletics are important at Xavier because it offers another avenue to fulfill the University's
mission of building leaders. We believe in healthy competition, and learning to be a team
player both on and off the field, in all aspects of life. Xavier students are challenged to be
their best in mind, body, and spirit. That's why our athletic teams are perennial contenders
for the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Championship and for NAIA national honors.
The ultimate goal is to offer more sports, make sure they are competitive, and that the
student-athletes graduate and lead productive lives.
Xavier has been very successful in not only competing and building a winning tradition,
but also in building leaders. Xavier's graduation rate for athletes is over 85% for
those athletes competing a minimum of two years. The student-athletes that have graduated
hold positions in business, medicine, education, law, and a host of other industries. We
at Xavier truly strive to achieve the spirit of the term "student-athlete".
The Athletics Department is funded primarily through University funds; but we do
rely on private donations to extend our financial resources. The funds we generate help
defray the costs of running the department and supplement other athletic needs. Building
a broad-based program is not accomplished alone, it requires a total team effort.
Your contribution of $125.00 per year (minimum) is fully tax deductible, and you will
be recognized as a donor to Xavier University. Your membership package will include:
an XU cap, membership card, and Booster pin.
