There is no substitute for a well prepared mind
Xavier’s curriculum is designed to give you a true
liberal arts education. Whatever your academic major - you will also
be required to master a core of prescribed courses in theology and philosophy,
the arts and the humanities, communications, history and the social sciences,
mathematics, and the natural sciences. If our requirements seem especially
demanding, they are. This is serious preparation for a lifetime of learning
and teaching, leadership and service. We'll help you build breadth
of knowledge. We'll sharpen your curiosity, your critical thinking
skills, and your compassion and self-confidence.
Sense of Purpose
Even with its special mission to serve the Black, Catholic
community, Xavier’s doors are open to all qualified students. More
than one-third of our students are Catholic, more than 80% African Americans,
and our students hail from 40 states and 14 countries.
“At Xavier, I'm surrounded by the brightest
and best. Even though I've never been an A student and I've never
had a 4.0 average, I've never thought that I couldn't make it.
I'll be successful in my field. I'll compete with the best. And
I'll understand how to present myself to the world. Xavier has made
sure I know all of those things.”
