Application Deadlines

Fall Spring
Freshmen March 1 December 1
Transfers June 1 December 1
Pharmacy December 15 na

Admission decision letters will be mailed by April 15 to Fall applicants who meet the March 1 deadline. Early action decisions are possible for qualified students. Applications received after the deadline will be considered only if there are slots remaining in the incoming class.

Freshman Admissions

To be considered for admission into the freshman class, you must submit the following:

To be eligible for admission, you should have completed the following 16 academic units while in high school: 4 units of English, 1 unit of algebra, 1 unit of geometry, 1 unit of natural science, 1 year of social science, and an additional 8 units (selected from mathematics, social science, natural science, language or literature.)

Readmission

A student who desires readmission to the University after an interruption of his/her attendance for any reason must submit a request for readmission application at least one month prior to the beginning of the session he/she plans to enter. The petition is presented to the College Academic Standing Committee for a decision. As part of the readmission procedure, a student who was not in good academic standing (cumulative G.P.A. below 2.0) when he or she left Xavier must arrange for an appointment with the Counseling Center. Students re-admitted after academic dismissal are placed on strict probation. If a student is denied readmission by the College Academic Standing Committee, the student has a right to a written appeal of the decision. This appeal must be received in the Office of the Registrar no later than six weeks after the date of the
denial letter.

Transfer Admissions

To be considered for admission as a transfer student with less than 20 college credits, you must submit the following:

  • A completed application with fee
  • Your ACT or SAT score
  • Your high school transcript

To be considered for admission as a transfer student with 20 or more college credits, you must submit the following:

  • A completed application with fee
  • Your college transcript

Information for International Students

In order to be considered for admission to the University as an international student, applicants should submit the following items prior to the deadline:

  • Completed application/counselor's recommendation form with fee
  • Official school records/transcripts
Letter of Recommendation from a secondary school
  • Official original certificate of national examination taken by the student
  • Notarized Affidavit of Support indicating who will pay the cost of attendance
  • Non-English speaking natives are required to submit official TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) scores.

Application deadlines are March 1 for the summer/fall terms; September 1 for the spring term.

The I-20 Form for immigration purposes will not be issued until ALL of the above listed conditions have been satisfied. Students have found it beneficial in expediting passport procedures to have these requirements satisfied from six to twelve months prior to their intended date of departure. Applicants who have had previous college work outside the United States, must have their records evaluated by an outside agency. The agency we recommend is:

Educational Credential Evaluators
P.O. Box 514070
Milwaukee, WI 53203-3470
USA

You must contact this agency and request an application form. When we receive an evaluation of your records from them, we will be able to determine what credits we will accept toward your Xavier degree.

Students will be issued the I-20 Form for immigration after all conditions for admission are met. Information on orientation and registration will be sent on a routine basis. It is advisable for students to begin their courses of study during the Fall semester in order that they may take their courses in proper sequence.

Xavier University offers further information for International students through our Center for Intercultural and International Programs.

TRANSIENT STUDENTS

A transient student is a student currently enrolled in another college or university who wishes to take courses at Xavier for the purpose of transferring the credits earned to that college or university. To be eligible to enroll, a transient student must submit the following documents to the Office of Admissions one month prior to the beginning of the term:

  • A completed application with fee
  • A Letter of Good Standing from his/her college dean or other appropriate university official.
  • Your college transcript

After a student has been approved for enrollment, the required Health Service documents must be submitted.
