Loren J. Blanchard, Ph.D
Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs
Dr. Loren Blanchard holds a B.S. degree in Speech Pathology Education from Xavier University, a M.Ed. degree in Educational Administration & Supervision from McNeese State University, and a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Georgia. Prior to taking up the post of Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs at Xavier, he was the Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic & Multicultural Affairs at the LSU Health Science Center in New Orleans. He also served as Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University of Louisiana System (ULS) in Baton Rouge, where he provided coordination among eight regional universities in achieving their academic and research goals. Dr. Blanchard also served as Vice President for Accreditation, Leadership and Accountability for ULS; and Accreditation Specialist with the Louisiana Department of Education. He previously served as Chair and Associate Professor in Xavier’s Division of Education and as Xavier’s Coordinator for National Accreditation through the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). A sought after national expert in accreditation planning and implementation, he led the effort to seal the state of Louisiana’s partnership with NCATE.

 

Marguerite S. Giguette, Ph.D
Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs
Dr. Giguette earned her PhD in Computer Science from Tulane University and has worked at Xavier since 1990. Before coming to the Academic Affairs Office, Dr. Giguette served as Chair of the Computer Science Department for 11 years. She was instrumental in the implementation of the Xavier SOAR 3 Program for prospective Computer Science students and has published a number of articles. She has served on numerous university committees, including Rank and Tenure, Chair of the Arts and Sciences Coordinating Committee, and the University Planning Council. She has also participated in a number of SACS reviews.

 

Pearl Algere-Lonian, M.A.
Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs
Ms Algere-Lonian, is a native New Orleanian and a Xavier graduate. She earned a Masters degree in Counseling from Pennsylvania State University. Prior to her return to Xavier University, she was employed at Penn State University, the University of New York at Brockport, Quinsigamond College, and Rose State College in Oklahoma. Affectionately known as “Miss Pearl”, Ms Algere-Lonian supervises Xavier’s undergraduate Scholarship program.

 

Pamela R. Franco, Ph.D
Executive Associate for Academic Affairs
Dr. Franco, a native Trinidadian, earned a PhD in art history from Emory University in Atlanta. Prior to her appointment at Xavier University, she was an Assistant Professor of Art History at Tulane University. She was a member of the Newcomb Gallery Advisory Board. She was also the Director of a summer abroad program to Trinidad and Tobago. She has been instrumental in organizing symposia and exhibitions on African and Caribbean Art.

 

Monique Guillory, Ph.D
Special Assistant to the President
Monique Guillory is a New Orleans native and the former Campus Executive Administrator for the University of the Virgin Islands, St. Croix. She has also served as the deputy Chief of Staff and Strategic Planning Coordinator at Jackson State University in Mississippi. She has worked at the New Orleans Times Picayune as a Staff Writer and earned a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from New York University.

 

Andree Summers
Executive Assistant for Academic Affairs
Ms. Summers, originally from Hampton, VA, moved to New Orleans, LA in the late 70’s. Prior to Hurricane Katrina, she attended Dillard University where she was a student in the Sociology/Social Sciences department. She is now attending Southern University at New Orleans to complete her degree. Before working at Xavier University she spent a number of years at Dillard University working as an Executive Assistant to the President of the University and the Vice President of Business and Finance.

 

Pamela Ridder
Executive Assistant for Academic Affairs
Ms. Ridder is a native of New Orleans who received an Associate Degree in Business Administration from Delgado Community College. Her responsibilities focus on the fiscal and human resources processes within Academic Affairs. Duties include assisting in the preparation of faculty contracts, tracking grants for endowed professors and chairs, preparing Electronic Personnel Action Forms, using Banner, utilizing BRIO reports, and maintaining records on the Undergraduate Academic Affairs Activity for Title III.
