A Message from the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs

Xavier University of Louisiana has garnered an international reputation for excellence and a proven record for student success.  Our legacy is rooted in the Christian values of service and personal responsibility embodied by St. Katharine Drexel and the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament.  In that spirit, a Xavier education not only equips students with the competitive skills and knowledge to thrive in the 21st century, but also instills in them the grace and character needed to promote a more just and humane society – the core of our mission.

This is one of the most exciting times in the University’s history and Xavier is well positioned to experience unprecedented growth and prosperity.  We have faced formidable challenges throughout our 83 years of existence, but through these experiences Xavier is primed to become better than ever. As the Chief Academic Officer, I partner with faculty, chairs, deans, staff and all Xavier personnel to ensure that the institutional mission remains dynamic and relevant in the day-to-day experiences of our students. Here in the division of Academic Affairs, our faculty and staff exemplify dedication, and many of them, like our President, Dr. Norman Francis, have made their service to Xavier a life-long calling.

But Xavier’s value and its contribution to this community entail more than commitment and longevity. At Xavier, we espouse a high standard of achievement and hard work to which all are held accountable.  Our graduates from the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Pharmacy and our myriad Graduate Programs attest to the culture of excellence that persists at Xavier – a sense of pride that drives all we are and all we do. From the quality of our teaching and research to our tireless resolve to ensure every student has the resources and opportunity to succeed, at Xavier we have no fear of high expectations. We wouldn’t be Xavier without them.

Whether you are a student, parent, Alum, or just browsing our site, I hope you will have the opportunity to see for yourself the remarkable promise and extraordinary work this institution represents.  Xavier isn’t just a campus or a university or even a broadly defined community.  Xavier is an experience and I encourage you to be a part of it.

Loren J. Blanchard, Ph.D
